A late rally helped lift the Stone Crabs to a 2-0 win over the Palm Beach Cardinals on Saturday afternoon at Roger Dean Stadium. The win snapped the three game losing skid of the Stone Crabs.

The Florida heat wasn’t the only thing hot in Palm Beach. Both starting pitcher were hot on the mound with Chris Kirsch and Rob Kaminksy exchanging zeros during their outings.

It wasn’t until the eighth inning that the Stone Crabs would score. The Stone Crabs loaded the bases following back to back singled by Juniel Querecuto and Willy Adames and a walk to Jake Bauers. Granden Goetzman would then hit into a double play which scored Querecuto giving the Stone Crabs a 1-0 lead.

The Stone Crabs added an insurance run in the ninth. Maxx Tissenbaum drew a walk to lead off the inning. Then manager Michael Johns replaced Tissenbaum with pinch runner Braxton Lee who would later score on a double by Dayron Varona to give the Stone Crabs the 2-0 win.

Kirsch picked up the win and Brad Schreiber got the save. Kevin Herget was charged with the loss.

The series concludes on Monday night at Roger Dean Stadium. Jacob Faria (8-1, 1.35) will start the finale against Trey Nielsen (4-3, 2.53) for Palm Beach.
