Tyler Bortnick joined the Stone Crabs during the last few weeks of the 2010 season. He hit .206 with 3 triples, a home run, 9 RBI’s and 2 stolen bases in just 12 games with the Stone Crabs. Bortnick rejoined the Stone Crabs to start the 2011 season.
Bortnick was drafted by the Rays in the 16th Round of the 2009 Draft out of Coastal Carolina University. He spent his first season in Hudson Valley where hit .300 with 17 doubles, 4 triples, 4 home runs, 26 RBI’s and 24 stolen bases in 65 games while also being named to the New York-Penn League All-Star team. In 2009, Tyler was named the Hot Rods MVP while hitting .303 with 32 doubles, 2 triples, 8 home runs and 39 stolen bases in 113 games with Bowling Green before being promoted to the Stone Crabs to finish the season.
