Zach Quate was the Stone Crabs dominating closer for the 2010 season. He allowed just 12 earned runs in 72.1 innings pitched, finishing the year with a 2-2 record, 25 saves and 90 strikeouts. His performance out of the Stone Crabs bullpen led him to nominations to both the midseason and postseason Florida State League All-Star squads.
Quate was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 14th round of the 2009 draft out of Appalachian State University. He made his professional debut that season with the Hudson Valley Renegades. He was then promoted to the Stone Crabs for the entire 2010 season.
