Angel Castro pitched in four games for the Stone Crabs during the 2009 season. Castro joined the Stone Crabs on August 8, 2009 after signing a minor league contract with the Rays. He went 0-2 with a 22.50 ERA, allowing 15 runs on 11 hits with 6 strikeouts and 7 walks in 6 innings on the mound for the Stone Crabs. He left the Stone Crabs on August 31 after being promoted to Montgomery.
Castro was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in Round 13 of the 2006 Draft and remained with the Tigers until joining the Philadelphia Phillies in May of 2009. After being released from the Phillies organization in July 2009, he was signed by the Tampa Bay Rays organization in August 2009, where he split time between the Stone Crabs and Montgomery. He was released from the Rays organization following the 2009 season. He spent the 2010 season split between the Independent League Lincoln Salt Dogs and the Mexican League.
