David Wendt was one of three catchers on the Stone Crabs roster to start the 2011 season. He appeared in five games as a designated hitter and was just 3 for 17 with a double and an RBI before being sent to extended spring training in early May. He was also called up to the Stone Crabs briefly in 2010 but did not appear in a game.
Wendt was drafted by Rays in the 50th round of the 2009 Draft out of Dowling College. He made his professional debut with the Princeton Rays in 2009. In 2010, Wendt split time between the Hudson Valley Renegades and the Bowling Green Hot Rods.
