Stephen Vogt filled in various roles with the Stone Crabs during the 2009-2010 season, playing catcher, first base, outfield, basecoach and even umpire. After his 2009 campaign was cut short by injury, he returned in 2010 to make up for lost time, finishing the season with Florida State League batting title. Over the two seasons, he played in 116 games and hit .330/.486/.384 with 33 doubles, 3 triples, 8 home runs and 50 RBI’s. He was a mid and post season Florida State League All-Star. Stephen also won the 2010 Erik Walker Community Champion Award for his work on and off the field.
Vogt was drafted by the Devil Rays in the 12th round of the 2007 draft out of Azusa Pacific University. He debuted with the Hudson Valley Renegades in 2007 and then was promoted to the Columbus Catfish in 2008. Vogt was then promoted to the Stone Crabs for 2009 and 2010.
Vogt received his first invitation to major league spring training in 2011.
