Ryan Royster spent the entire 2009 season with the Stone Crabs and returned for a 12 game stint again in 2010 after getting injured at AA Montgomery. He split time between the outfield and designated hitter, finished with a .227 average, 21 doubles, 1 triple, 5 home runs and 40 RBI’s in 116 games with the Stone Crabs.
Royster was drafted by the Devil Rays in the sixth round of the 2004 draft out of Churchill (OR) High School. He made his way through the minor league organization, earning all-star recognition with the New York-Penn League in 2006 and the South Atlantic League in 2007. He spent his first two seasons with Princeton and then was promoted to Hudson Valley in 2006. In 2007, he played for the Columbus Catfish. Ryan was promoted to Vero Beach in 2008 and then moved to the Charlotte Stone Crabs when the franchise relocated to start the 2009 season.
Royster was promotd again to start the 2010 season, this time to the Montgomert Biscuits. He remained there until a herniated disk sent him to the disabled list in April. After surgery, Royster rehabbed with the GCL Rays and the Stone Crabs where he finished the season. Following the 2010 season, Royster filed for free agency and was removed from the organizational roster.
Royster has signed to play for the independent New Jersey Jackals of the Can-Am League in 2011.
