Kirby Yates was promoted to the Stone Crabs late in the 2010 season and appeared in just one game for the Stone Crabs before heading to the disabled list. In that one game, he pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed 3 runs on 7 hits with 3 strikeouts and 2 walks to earn a no-decision.
He returned to the Stone Crabs to start the 2011 season.
Yates was signed by the Rays as an free agent in June 2009. He made his Rays debut with the Princeton Rays that season. He was promoted to Bowling Green in 2010 and stayed with them until his August promotion to the Stone Crabs.
