BJ Upton spent the three games with the Stone Crabs to start the 2009 season while recovering from shoulder surgery during the off-season. He was 4 for 9 with 2 RBI’s and 4 stolen bases in nine at-bats before being reinstated from the DL in time for the Rays home opener.
Upton was drafted by the Devil Rays in the second round of the 2002 draft out of Greenbrier Christian Academy (MD). He has spent his entire career with the Rays, with the last five years in the majors. He is the only Rays player to have hit for the cycle.
