Matt Fields enjoyed two stints with the Stone Crabs, once during 2009 and again in 2010. He was the inaugural season opening day started for the Stone Crabs and remained them until his promotion to Montgomery in June. He later returned to the Stone Crabs in June 2010 while on the disabled list. Fields was a combined .253 with 9 doubles, 4 triples, 12 home runs and 46 RBI’s while with the Stone Crabs.
Fields was drafted by the Rays organization in the 2004 Draft. He made his professional debut in 2005 with the Princeton Devil Rays, promoted to Hudson Valley Renegades in 2006, spent 2007 with the Columbus Catfish where he was the South Atlantic League Player of the Week for the week ending June 25. Then he was promoted to Advanced A Vero Beach Devil Rays for 2008. He spent the beginning of the 2009 season with the Stone Crabs before being promoted to the Montgomery Biscuits midseason. He started the 2010 in Montgomery but then spent some rehab time with the GCL Rays and the Stone Crabs before returning to Montgomery.
