Joe Cruz was a member of the Stone Crabs starting rotation during the 2010 season. He was 13-6 with a 2.85 ERA and 131 strikeouts in 25 starts with the Stone Crabs. He led the Stone Crabs and the Florida State League in wins and finished second in the league in ERA. His performance led to being appointed to the Florida State League Post-Season All-Star Team. Cruz was awarded the FSL Player of the Week for the week of July 4, 2010 in which he threw 14 shut-out innings and 10 strikeouts in two starts that week.
Cruz was drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in Round 30 of the 2007 Draft out of East Los Angeles Junior College. He spent his first two season with the Princeton Rays before being promoted to Bowling Green Hot Rods in 2009 and then the Stone Crabs in 2010.
