Stone Crabs Win Pitching Duel in Game One of FSL Finals

The Stone Crabs and Daytona Tortugas faced off in a one-run pitcher duel to open up the Florida State League Championship Series on Thursday night at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Both starters were on target throughout the entire contest with the Stone Crabs scoring the only run of night to win the game 1-0.

The only run of the night came in the top of the second inning. Granden Goetzman singled to center to lead off the inning. He later scored on an RBI double by Justin Williams to give the Stone Crabs a 1-0.

Chih-Wei Hu turned in his most dominating performance as a Stone Crabs. He pitched eight innings, striking out 9 on the night to earn the win. He didn’t even allow a runner in scoring position until the sixth inning.

Jordan Harrison retired all three hitters he faced in the ninth to earn the save.

Game two if the best of five series will be Friday at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Buddy Borden (2-2, 2.97) will get the start for the Stone Crabs against Seth Varner (9-7, 2.97) for Daytona.
