It only took half the month, but the Stone Crabs finally put a win in the win column during the month of August after beating the Bradenton Marauders 3-1 on Friday night at Charlotte Sports Park. The win snapped the current season high losing streak.

The game started as an all-out pitching duel with Brent Honeywell making the most of his start after having his last outing cut short by rain. Honeywell threw six scoreless innings before turning he hill over to Chih-Wei Hu who was just activated from the disabled list.

While Honeywell and Hu were keeping the Marauders off the scoreboard, the Stone Crabs hitters were finding a way to get on the board. The Stone Crabs broke the scoreless tie in the sixth inning. Armando Araiza singled to lead off the inning. He later scored on an RBI single by Kean Wong to give the Stone Crabs a 1-0 lead.

The Stone Crabs added another run in the eighth. This time it was Araiza getting it done again as he went deep to left for a solo home run that extended the lead to 2-0.

The Stone Crabs went deep again in the eighth when Yoel Araujo struck a solo homer to make it 3-0.

Bradenton scored their lone run of the night in the bottom of the ninth. An RBI single by Jordan Steranka scored Austin Meadows. But that is all they would get as the Stone Crabs held on for a 3-1 win.

Honeywell picked up the win and Hu earned the save.

The Stone Crabs wrap up the series on Saturday night at McKechnie Field. German Marquez will get the ball in the finale.
