The Stone Crabs continue to struggle as they now have lost a series high eighth games following an 8-7 loss to the division leading Palm Beach Cardinals on Monday night at Charlotte Sports Park.
Game one of the series got off to a wild start with both teams playing into the early morning hours. Twelve innings of baseball combined with a two hour rain delay pushed the game past midnight and into Tuesday.
The Stone Crabs spotted started Brent Honeywell with a one run lead in the first inning with Willy Adames doubling home Marty Gantt to give the Stone Crabs a lead.
The rain was the only thing that could cool down Honeywell, he struck out 3 of the first 5 hitters he faced before the rain delay. When the field was ready for the game to resume, it would be Steve Ascher for Charlotte and Trey Nielson for Palm Beach.
The Stone Crabs added another run in the third inning. Mike Marjama reached on an error allowing Adames to score and give the Stone Crabs a 2-0 lead.

The Stone Crabs tied the game in the bottom of the ninth. Kean Wong drew a walk to put the tying run on the bases. Wong would score on a sac fly by Mike Marjama, to tie the game and force extra innings.
The game would state tied until the top of the twelfth when a single by Valera scored CJ McElroy to give the Cardinals a slim one run lead.
