GCL Rays Drop 2015 Opener to Red Sox

The GCL Rays opened their 2015 season at home with a game against the GCL Red Sox. The Rays found themselves in an early deficit and never recovered, falling 10-4.

The Red Sox opened the afternoon with back to back two run innings in the first two frame to take a 4-0 lead.
The Red Sox added three more in the fifth to extend their lead to 7-0.

The Rays reached the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth. Jaime Ayende drew a walk followed by a single by Oscar Rojas. A two run double by Adrian Rondon would give the Rays two runs.

After a one run inning by the Red Sox in the top of the sixth, the Rays countered with a run in the bottom of the sixth. A sac fly by Anthony Cantillo scored Cody Semier to make it 8-3.

The Rays got their first home run of the season in the bottom of the seventh when Oscar Rojas went deep to left to cut the lead in half.

The Red Sox would strike for two more runs in the ninth to hand the Rays the 10-4 loss.

Sandy Brito was charged with the loss for the Rays.

The series shifts to JetBlue Park for game two of the four game series on Tuesday.
