The Stone Crabs scored seven runs in the second inning to guide them to a 9-2 win over the Jupiter Hammerheads on Sunday afternoon at Roger Dean Stadiums. The win was the Stone Crabs sixth straight win over the Hammerheads this month.
The Stone Crabs took the lead in the first inning. Braxton Lee reached on an error to lead off the inning. He would score on an RBI single by Jake Bauers to make it 1-0.
Then came the big second inning for the Stone Crabs in which they would send eleven hitters to the plate and walk away with seven runs. Lee, Kean Wong, Granden Goetzman, Jake Bauers, Pat Blair and Maxx Tissenbaum would all pick up RBI’s to give the Stone Crabs an 8-0 lead.
Jupiter avoided a shut-out by scoring in the fourth inning. Felix Munoz doubled to right and then scored on an RBI single by Harold Riggins to make it 8-1.
Both clubs would exchange runs in the sixth. An RBI single by Jake Bauers would score Wong in the top of the inning. Ramirez would plate Austin Dean in the bottom of the inning to make it 9-2.
Neither club would push across a run the remainder of the afternoon as the Stone Crabs held on for a 9-2 victory.
Isaac Gil picked up the win for the Stone Crabs and Josh Kimborowicz earned his first save of the season. Jarlin Garcia was the losing pitcher for Jupiter.
The Stone Crabs head home for their final series before the All-Star Break as they host the Lakeland Flying Tigers for a four game set beginning Monday at Charlotte Sports Park.
