The Stone Crabs punched their ticket for the postseason following an extra innings win over the Jupiter Hammerheads Friday night at Roger Dean Stadium.
In a rematch that saw Stone Crabs ace Jacob Faria toe the rubber against Marlins starter Jose Fernandez, pitching stole the show. Both clubs threw nine scoreless frames forcing the game into extra innings.
The Stone Crabs scored the only run of the night in the top of the tenth. Willy Adames reached on a walk and moved into scoring position after Jake Bauers was hit by a pitch. Adames stole third and would later score on a bunt by Marty Gantt to give the Stone Crabs a 1-0 lead.
Brad Schrieber took over the mound to secure the win and hand the Stone Crabs the first half championship.
Steve Ascher picked up the win and Schrieber got the save.
The series continues on Saturday night at Roger Dean Stadium.
