Late Rally Lifts Stone Crabs Over Fort Myers

The Stone Crabs finally found the win column on the road in Fort Myers as they defeated the Fort Myers Miracle 5-2 on Sunday afternoon. A late rally help give the Stone Crabs their first win in Fort Myers this season.

Fort Myers took an early lead by scoring in the third inning. A solo home run by Engelb Vielma game the Miracle a 1-0 lead.

The Stone Crabs tied the game in the fourth inning. Juniel Querecuto singled to left to lead off the inning. He later scored on an RBI single by Mike Marjama to tie the game 1-1.

The game remained tied until the top of the eighth inning. Back to back walks Marty Gantt and Querecuto got things started. Willy Adames drove home the go ahead run on a single to center.
Jake Bauer plated a run with a ground ball that scored Querecuto. Adames later scored on a single by Joey Rickard to give the Stone Crabs a 4-1 lead.

Fort Myers pushed across a run in the eighth. Niko Goodrum scored on a sac fly by Marcus Knecht to cut the lead in half.

The Stone Crabs collected an insurance run in the top of the ninth. Querecuto singled home Yoel Araujo to give the Stone Crabs a 5-2 lead.

Brad Schreiber struck out the side in the bottom of the ninth to secure the Stone Crabs victory.

Josh Kimborowicz picked up the win and Schreiber earned his sixth save of the season. Brian Gilbert suffered the loss for Fort Myers.

The Stone Crabs head to Jupiter for a three game series against the Jupiter Hammerheads starting Monday night.
