Six Alumni Named League Top Prospects by Baseball America

Earlier this month, Baseball America released their League Top 20 Prospects and several alumni were ranked. Here’s a look at the alumni recognized by Baseball America.

Gulf Coast League
17. Jose Alvarado – Alvarado was 1-5 with a 3.79 ERA in 12 games for the GCL Rays. He finished with 46 strikeouts on the season.

Appalachian League
9. Nick Ciuffo – Ciuffo hit .224 with 7 doubles, 1 triple and 4 home runs in 52 games for the Princeton Rays.
13. Riley Unroe – Unroe hit .226 with 11 doubles, 2 triple, 3 home runs in 61 games for the P-Rays. He stole 7 bases on the season.

Florida State League
10. Justin O’Conner – O’Conner hit .278 with 35 doubles, 2 triples and 12 home runs in 101 games split between the Charlotte Stone Crabs and Montgomery Biscuits.

International League
15. Alex Colome – Colome was 7-7 with a 3.53 ERA in 18 minor league games split between the Charlotte Stone Crabs and the Durham Bulls. In the majors, Colome was 2-0 with a 2.66 ERA in 5 games.

Independent League (signed prospects)
3. Matt Nevarez – Nevarez was 1-1 with a 1.35 ERA in 6 games with the Altoona Curve. After being released by the Pirates, he was signed by the Wichita Wranglers where he was 4-0 with a 1.59 ERA.
