The GCL Rays put a stop to their recent losing streak by winning Saturday’s game against the GCL Orioles by the score of 3-2.
The Rays took the lead in the second ining. Andrew Toles singled to right to lead off the inning. Toles stole second and third to move closer to home. Cade Gotta followed with a walk in which ball four got away from the catcher and allowed Toles to score. Gotta stole second and moved to third on a wild pitch. Jose Rojas then drove home Gotta with a double to give the Rays a 2-0 lead.
The Orioles cut the lead in half in the sixth inning. Alex Mercedes doubled to right and later scored on a sac fly by Jomar Reyes to make it 2-1.
The Orioles tied the game in the eighth inning. Daniel Franco tripled to right and then scored on a double by Ademar Rifaela to tie the game.
The Rays scored the go ahead run in the ninth inning. Toles singled on a line drive to center to lead off the frame. He moved into scoring position after stealing second. A passed ball/throwing error allowed Toles to score and give the Rays a 3-2 win.
Junior Feliz picked up the win for the Rays.
