Four Run Fifth Inning Lifts GCL Rays to Victory

The GCL Rays defeated the GCL Twins 5-1 on Tuesday at Lee County Sports Complex.

The Rays scored the first run of the game in the second inning. Isias Alcantar was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. He later scored on double by Jose Rojas to give the Rays a 1-0 lead.

The Rays loaded the bases in the fifth to start another scoring rally. Oscar Sanay reached on an error followed by a single by Zacrey Law and a walk by Cade Gotta. Chris DeMorais drove home Sanay with a single to right. Matt Ford then cleared the bases with a three run triple to right to give the Rays a 5-0 lead.

The Twins scored their only run of the afternoon in the seventh. A sac fly by Ariel Montesino to score Joel Polanco made it 5-1.

Neither club would score the remainder of the game as the Rays cruised to a 5-1 win.

Junior Feliz was the winning pitcher for the Rays and Tommy Lawrence earned the save.

The series moves to Charlotte Sports Park on Wednesday with first pitch scheduled for 12:00.
