Offense Red Hot in Win Over Lakeland

The Stone Crabs offense was on fire on Friday night, defeating the Lakeland Flying Tigers 8-2 at Charlotte Sports Park. The Stone Crabs had five extra base hits on the night.

The Stone Crabs took the lead in the first inning. Johnny Field reached on a wild pitch following strike three to put a runner on the bases. Field later scored on a sac fly by Pat Leonard to give the Stone Crabs a 1-0 lead.

The Stone Crabs increased their lead in the third inning. Field led off the frame with his first FSL home run, solo shot to left. Leonardo Reginatto later singled to short. Leonard followed with a double to move Reginatto to third. Both runners scored on a double by Justin O’Conner to make to 4-0.

The Stone Crabs scored again in the fifth. O’Conner drew a walk and then scored on a sac fly by Jose Sale to increase the lead to 5-0.

Lakeland reached the scoreboard in the sixth inning. A two run triple by Austin Green made it 5-2.

The Stone Crabs added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth. Field and Tommy Coyle led off the inning with back to back singles. Field scored on a sac fly by Leonard. After a walk by Leonard, Tissenbaum drove home both runners with a line drive to right to give the Stone Crabs the 8-2 margin of victory.

Reinaldo Lopez was the winning pitcher for the Stone Crabs. Kenton St John was the losing pitcher for Lakeland.

The Stone Crabs break out the brooms as they look for the sweep in the series finale on Saturday at Charlotte Sports Park. Ryne Stanek will be on the mound in the series finale.
