Coyle’s Timely Hitting Leads Stone Crabs to Walk-Off Win Over Jupiter

Tommy Coyle drove home the tying run and scored the winning run in Thursday’s finale against Jupiter.

It took extra innings to get it done, but the Stone Crabs defeated the Jupiter Hammerheads 5-4 on Thursday night at Charlotte Sports Park.

Jupiter took the lead in the third inning. Colin Moran drove home Ryan Goetz to give the Hammerheads a 1-0 lead.

The Stone Crabs tied the game back up in the bottom of the third. Ariel Soriano doubled to left and later scored on a wild pitch to tie the game.

The Stone Crabs took their first lead in the bottom of the fifth. Soriano lead off the inning with a single to third. He then scored on an RBI triple by Tommy Coyle to make it 2-1 Stone Crabs.

The Hammerheads took advantage of Stone Crabs reliever Casey Weathers and Ryan Garton to put three runs on the scoreboard. Weather surrendered two runs and Garton the third to put the Stone Crabs in a 4-2 deficit.

The Stone Crabs chipped away at the deficit by scoring in the bottom of the sixth inning. Justin O’Conner doubled to left to lead off the inning. He moved to third on a single by Tyler Goeddel and then scored on a single by Josh Sale to pull the Stone Crabs to within a run of the lead.

The Stone Crabs tied the game in the ninth. Julian Ridings opened the frame with a triple to right and then scored on a sac fly by Tommy Coyle to tie the game and force extra frames.

The Stone Crabs won the game in the eleventh. Coyle singled to left and then scored on an RBI single by Leonardo Reginatto to end the game and give the Stone Crabs a 5-4 win.

Jose Molina was the winner for the Stone Crabs. Colby Suggs suffered the loss for Jupiter.

The Stone Crabs head to the east coast for a four game series against the Brevard County Manatees. Austin Pruitt will get the ball for the Stone Crabs in the series opener.
