Vettleson and Rivero Traded to Nationals

Drew VettlesonFormer Stone Crabs Drew Vettleson and Felipe Rivero were traded to the Washington Nationals as part of a four man deal between the Rays and Nationals. The Rays traded Jose Lobaton, Vettleson and Rivero to the Nationals in exchange for pitcher Nate Karns.

Vettleson spent the 2013 season patrolling the Stone Crabs outfield. He hit .274 with 29 doubles, 6 triples and 4 home runs in 121 games. Vettleson was the Rays #8 prospect as rated by ESPN’s Keith Law.

The hard throwing Rivero was a member of the Stone Crabs rotation in 2013. He was 9-7 with a 3.40 ERA and 91 strikeouts in 23 starts for the Stone Crabs.
