Salt River underwent another close loss on Wednesday, falling 8-6 against the Glendale Desert Dogs. The Rafters gained a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning, but starter and former Stone Crab Grayson Garvin suffered a difficult bottom half of the frame, surrendering four runs – one unearned – and thereby being tagged with a loss, evening out his AFL record at 1-1.

Salt River takes on Glendale once more on Thursday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 MST (9:35 EST).

Five Stone Crabs made appearances in the game:

  • Richie Shaffer (2013): 1 for 3 with an RBI
  • Todd Glaesmann (2012): 0 for 4 with a walk and an RBI
  • Ryan Brett (2013): pinch-ran and remained in the game at second base
  • Grayson Garvin (2013): got the loss after allowing 4 runs (3 earned) off 4 hits, 3 walks, and 4 strikeouts in 4 innings
  • Merrill Kelly (2010): 1 run off 2 hits and 1 strikeout in 1 inning
