Almost immediately following Friday’s game against the Brevard County Manatees, the team announced that second baseman Ryan Brett was granted a promotion to the Double-A Montgomery Biscuits. Brett had been tearing it up offensively since his return from a DL stint, hitting .337 over 50 games with the Stone Crabs. Brett additionally had 21 stolen bases, the second most on the team behind Willie Argo and placing him 9th in the Florida State League.
In a corresponding move, former Charlotte infielder Hector Guevara was resent to the Stone Crabs to make room for Brett on the Biscuits’ roster. Guevara, who was promoted to Montgomery in June, hit .227 in 33 games, doubling four times and driving in 10.
Brett was a third round draft pick by the Tampa Bay Rays in 2010 out of Highline High School in Washington, while Hector Guevara was signed as a non-drafted free agent in 2006 out of Venezuela.
