Hector Guevara was granted a promotion to Double-A Montgomery on Saturday afternoon due to an injury to the Biscuits’ regular shortstop Shawn O’Malley, according to the Montgomery Biscuits team. Guevara spent two seasons in Charlotte, and in 2013 was hitting .245 with six homeruns and 32 RBIs. No coinciding roster move has been made on the Charlotte front to replace Guevara, though there is speculation that Jake Hager may rejoin the team from Gulf Coast League rehab fairly soon.
Guevara was signed in 2006 out of Venezuela as a non-drafted free agent. He has since spent five seasons in the Rays organization, beginning with the Venezuelan Summer League in 2009.
