The Tampa Bay Rays’ ace starter David Price is set to begin a rehab assignment on Friday during the Stone Crabs’ away series in Bradenton, according to the Tampa Bay Times. Price has been sidelined since May 16 from a left triceps strain. The left-hander is the reigning Cy Young Award recipient for the MLB American League, and in nine starts this season with the Rays has a 5.24 ERA and 49 strikeouts.

Price was the first pick for the then-Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 2011 draft, out of Vanderbilt University. Price made his major league debut in 2008 at the age of 23, and since has pitched over 840 innings for the Rays.
