Stone Crabs Drop Finale to Fort Myers

Robi Estrada was 2 for 5 with a double in Saturday’s loss.

The Stone Crabs watched an early lead disappear as they lost the series finale against the Fort Myers Miracle on Saturday night at Charlotte Sports Park.

The Stone Crabs jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning. Robi Estrada hit a ground-rule double to put a runner in scoring position for the Stone Crabs. Derek Dietrich drove home Estrada with an RBI double to give the Stone Crabs a 1-0 lead.

They held onto the slim lead until the top of the fourth inning when the Miracle struck for three runs to take a 3-1 lead.

The Stone Crabs added a run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Phil Wunderlich doubled to right to open the frame. He advanced to third on a sac bunt by Cody Rogers. Wunderlich later scored on an error to pull the Stone Crabs to within a run of the lead 3-2.

But the Miracle distanced themselves from the Stone Crabs by producing back to back two run innings in the fifth and sixth to extend their lead.

The Stone Crabs could not push across any more runs in the final innings as they lost 7-2.

Braulio Lara was charged with the loss for the Stone Crabs.

The Stone Crabs open a series against the Bradenton Marauders with a doubleheader at Charlotte Sports Park on Sunday. Enny Romero and Eliazer Suero will be the starting pair for the Stone Crabs against Tyler Waldron and Eliecer Navarro for the Marauders.
