October Winter League Recap

The winter leagues have wrapped up their first month of play and its time to take a look at how the Stone Crab alumni are doing so far this winter.

  • Mayo Acosta has appeared in one game for the Toros del Este of the Dominican Winter League. He was a defensive sub and did not have a plate appearance.
  • Nevin Ashley is hitting .240 in 9 games with the Gigantes del Cibao of the Dominican Winter League. He is 6 for 25 with 2 doubles, 5 RBI’s and 3 run scored.
  • Tim Beckham is hitting .263 in 14 games with the Surprise Saguaros of the Arizona Fall League. His is 15 for 57 with 4 doubles, 2 triples, 3 home runs and 13 RBI’s.
  • Tyler Bortnick was 10 for 41 with 3 doubles, 1 homer and 2 RBI’s in 11 games played for the Surprise Saguaros of the Arizona Fall League.
  • Alex Colome is 0-1 this winter for the Leones del Escogido of the Dominican Winter League. He has pitched in 6 games and has a 1.42 ERA and 9 strikeouts.
  • Shane Dyer was the opening day starter for the Surprise Saguaros of the Arizona Fall League. He is 1-1 with a 4.58 ERA and 7 strikeouts in 5 starts for Surprise.
  • Marquis Fleming is 1-0 with a 4.82 ERA. He has pitched in 5 games for the Surprise Saguaros of the Arizona Fall League where he has recorded 10 strikeouts.
  • Adam Liberatore has appeared in six games out of the Surprise Saguaros bullpen. He is 1-0 with a 4.22 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 10 2/3 innings pitched.
  • Omar Luna has appeared in 3 games for the Aguilas Cibaenas of the Dominican Winter League. He is hitting .167 with only 1 hit in 6 at-bats.
  • Albert Suarez has pitched in one game for the Navegantes del Magallanes of the Venezuelan Winter League. He pitched 1 2/3 innings where he gave up a run while striking out 1.
  • Kirby Yates has pitched in 6 games for the Surprise Saguaros of the Arizona Fall League. He has a 5.40 ERA and 7 strikeouts so far this fall.

Stone Crab alumni Chris Andujar, Richard De Los Santos, Deivis Mavarez, Alejandro Torres and Stephen Vogt have also been on rosters of winter league teams but have not appeared in a game as of yet.
