Former Stone Crab Moore Named Southern League Pitcher of the Week

2010 Stone Crab alumni and franchise strikeout king Matt Moore was named the Southern League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending May 29. Moore pitched a six inning shut-out on Thursday against Jacksonville while recording a season high eleven strikeouts. This is Moore’s sixth career pitcher of the week award, including four as a member of the Stone Crabs in 2010.

Moore was drafted by the Rays in the eighth round of the 2007 draft from Moriarty High School. He has led the minors in strikeouts in each of the last two seasons.

Moore was the Stone Crabs number one starter during the 2010 season where the lefty went 6-11 with a 3.36 ERA and a franchise and league high 208 strikeouts.
