Three Former Stone Crabs Added to 40-man Roster

With the Rule 5 Draft approaching, former Stone Crabs Nevin Ashley, Alex Cobb and Dane De La Rosa were added to the Rays 40-man roster. The corresponding moves will protect the trio from the draft.

Ashley was the main catcher for the Stone Crabs as well as midseason all-star during the inaugural season in 2009 before being promoted to Montgomery. He spent the 2010 season split between Montgomery and Durham. Ashley was drafted by the Rays organization in Round 6 of the 2006 Draft.

Cobb was the Stone Crabs Opening Day starter for the inaugural season. Cobb was named the 2010 MVP for the Montgomery Biscuits and was ranked eighth on the Rays Prospects Top Prospect List for 2010. He was drafted by the organization in the fourth round of the 2006 Draft.

De La Rosa pitched just two games for the Stone Crabs during the 2010 season and was with the Biscuits the rest of the year. He joined the organization in 2010 as a free agent.
